iPhone 5 in 2012?
- Jim Dalrymple from Loopinsight mentioned that:
Apple’s apparent focus on software in its WWDC announcement backs up what my own sources are saying about the annual conference. That is, expect a software show in 2011, not a hardware event.”
- Thus, this news crushed all hopes for the iPhone fans to get their hands on iPhone 5 this June.
- If there is no news regarding manufacturing of its parts, we will not be seeing it even the end of this year. Most probably sometime next year (2012).
- It’s either Apple is cooking up a much better features for the iPhone 5 or trying to resolve the manufacturing issues.
- Either way, I am also quite disappointed. I was really hoping to get Apple new gadget this year (since I am not getting the iPad 2).
- What about you, guys? Disappointed too?

[How-To] - Downgrade iOS 4.3.1 To 4.3, 4.2.1, 4.1 on iPhone, iPad And iPod Touch
- Yesterday, Apple released iOS 4.3.1 for iPhone 4, 3GS, iPad 2, iPad, and iPod touch 4G/3G.
- If you “accidentally” upgraded to iOS 4.3.1, and now you want to downgrade back to iOS 4.3, iOS 4.2.1 or 4.1, simply follow the instructions posted below to downgrade iOS 4.3.1 on iPhone 4, 3GS, iPod touch, iPad 2 and iPad 1 to iOS 4.3, iOS 4.2.1, 4.1, 4.0.x.
This process is only for those who have already saved the ECIDs with SHSH to Cydia Server for iOS 4.1, iOS 4.0.1 or iOS 4.0.2 (You must have done/saved this before the release of iOS 4.2.)
Disclaimer:
This guide is for information and educational purposes only. Use it at your own risk, we cannot be held responsible if anything goes wrong.
Downgrade iOS 4.3.1 To 4.3, 4.2.1, 4.1 on iPhone, iPad And iPod Touch:
Step 1:
- Download the required old ipsw firmware files.
- (Download links: iOS 4.3, iOS 4.2.1, iOS 4.1, iOS 4.0.2, iOS 4.0.1)
Put your device into DFU mode (not recovery mode).
- Connect your iOS device to your computer.
- Turn it off.
- Start iTunes.
- Hold Power and Home buttons together for 10 seconds or so.
- Release Power button but keep holding the Home button until your computer recognizes a new USB device.
- iTunes will now recognize your iPhone, iPad or iPod touch.
Step 3:
- Navigate to the path “c:\windows\system32\drivers\etc\” and open the hosts file in a Notepad or Wordpad.
- MAC users can navigate to the path “/etc/” and open the hosts file with TextEdit.
Windows users
- Open Notepad with admin privileges, then right click on the icon of notepad and click on “Open as administrator”
- Now that the Notepad is open Go to folder C:/WINDOWS/system32/drivers/etc and open the file.
- Add the following line at the end of the document and save it: 74.208.105.171 gs.apple.com
- Navigate to Go -> Go To Folder and enter the path /etc
- Open the file hosts with TextEdit, add the following string 74.208.105.171 gs.apple.com and save the file to your desktop.
- Now return to the previous folder by following the same method and copy the text within this file by replacing the original file (If prompted for a password enter it and click OK)
NOTE: For Windows 7 and Vista: Start “Notepad” with Administrator privileges by right clicking on “Notepad” app, and click on “Run as Administrator“ option.
NOTE: For Mac OS X: Make sure you have full read and write access on your account when you are saving the host file. If it still throws permission error, simply copy the host file to desktop, make the required changes, and then replace it with the original file in “/etc/” directory.
Step 4:
- Start iTunes, click on your iOS device icon from the sidebar in iTunes.
- Now press and hold left “alt” (option) button on Mac, or Left “Shift” button if you are on Windows on the keyboard and then click on “Restore” (Not “Update” or “Check for Update”) button in the iTunes and then release this button.
- This will make iTunes prompt you to select the location for your iOS 4.3, iOS 4.2.1 or 4.1 firmware file.
- Select the desired ipsw file and click on “Open” to restore your iOS device.
- Now sit back and enjoy as iTunes does the rest for you.
- This will involve a series of automated steps. Be patient at this stage and don’t do anything silly.
- Just wait while iTunes installs the requested firmware on your iOS device.
- Your device screen at this point will be showing a progress bar indicating installation progress.
- Once done, it will reboot automatically.
- Now in some cases while restoring to iOS 4.3, iOS 4.2.1 or 4.1, iTunes might throw 1013 error at you as shown in the screenshot below. This is normal, just ignore this error as the firmware has already been successfully installed on the device
- Incase of the above mentioned error, your iPhone, iPad or iPod touch will be stuck in Recovery Mode, showing that “Connect to iTunes” screen.
- To exit your device from Recovery Mode, download this program called TinyUmbrella (Windows/Mac). Run it and the click on “Exit Recovery” button. Your device will now restart normally.
- That’s it! You successfully downgraded iOS 4.3.1 to iOS 4.3 iOS 4.2.1, 4.1, 4.02, 4.01 firmware. You can follow the normal guides to jailbreak firmware iOS 4.2.1, iOS 4.1, iOS 4.0.2 or 4.0.1.
- Last but not the least, you must now remove 74.208.105.171 gs.apple.com line from the host file so that you are prompted for future updates from Apple via iTunes.

Some Of My Recent Favorites On Etsy
I love the somewhat new Etsy circles.
They make me want to create Treasuries often, but time does not allow…
Here is a Treasury I just created that I titled
I am so in love with all these things.
I just wish I had the monies to be able to afford to buy everything I fall in love with on Etsy…
On a quick side note. I think I may be keeping my garden blog as my garden blog and not getting rid of it as I had thought I might with integrating all of my blogs into one. I will cross post - or direct this main blog over there as there are related things or inspirations… There is just SO much in my head right now and I have not had a moment to sit and write it out yet.

Madden NFL 12 Goes on, Even Without an NFL Season
Madden NFL is the most widely played football videogame. Owned by EA (Electronic Arts), Madden NFL has gone through 22 versions, and Madden NFL 12, set to be released August 2011, will be the 23rd.Currently the NFL Player's Association and the NFL are in a dispute, and if the two sides do not come to an agreement within the next few months, the 2011-2012 season will not be played.
EA says they plan on releasing Madden NFL 12, as usual in August, even if the 2011-2012 season is not played.
CNET got an interview with Rob Semsey, EA Sports' director of public relations. "Fans of Madden NFL will not have their seasons interrupted, regardless of when the labor issues are resolved. We plan to release Madden NFL 12 in August as usual." said Rob.
Two problems may come with releasing Madden NFL 12 without a real NFL season to back it up. One of the issues with this is that some players have left their teams at the end of last season, but have not been signed with another team yet. EA would probably replace the players with generic ones, or maybe keep the same rosters as last year.
Another possible problem is EA's bottom line. Although EA has not said how their bottom line would be affected if there was no season this year, Wedbush analyst Michael Pachter told The Hollywood Reporter last week that Madden sales heavily depend on the NFL season. Pachter said that if there is no season this year, it could "cost Madden around 50% of sales."

Get Ready! iPhone 5 to be launch soon

If the news is true regarding the iPhone 5 already entered production, we might be seeing the iPhone 5 very soon!
Let’s look at the specifications based on the rumours:
- Dual-core processor Apple A5
- New graphics processor
- Aluminum Retro
- Same size and shape of the iPhone 4
- Bigger screen, probably 4 "
- 64 GB Model
- Available immediately both white and black
Macbook Air vs iPad 2

- iPad 2 has a thickness of 8.8mm (thinner than iPhone 4) whereas the Macbook Air is 17 mm at its thickest, and 2.8mm at its thinnest.
- It looks like the Air is much thinner.
- Which one will you carry around? As for me - I carry around my MBA at the office/home and my iPad 1 is mainly at home or during my travel (outside office) or vacation. Of course I need to carry my iPhone 4 (since my iPad is WiFi only)
- MBA can do a lot more for my work as compared to iPad. Nothing can replace the Powerpoint, Word, Photoshop, Emailing, Surfing.
- But the iPad excel in other ways - light browsing, digital newspaper, ebook reading, gaming, watching videos...
- I used to list down 13 reasons why I like my iPad. I tried to purchase a lot of Productivity Apps after a month of usage thinking it can "really" increase my daily productivity.
- After 2 months of usage, I tried downloading several apps that can read PDF files to make my life easier reading eBooks. But it still failed to change my reading lifestyle.
- I heard a lot of students trying to justify their iPad purchase without knowing the long term impact to their study habits.
- I began to find my natural ways of using the iPad after 100 days.
- Nowadays (i.e. after 1 year using iPad), I think the best iPad app for me would be Flipboard. This is my Digital Newspaper and my reading material at home.

Will iPhone 5 feature NFC?
Bloomberg reported a few weeks ago that the iPhone 5 will come with a built in NFC chip. That report was then contradicted by The Independent, who said that if NFC appears at all, it will be in the iPhone 6th generation, rather than the iPhone 5. The contradictions continue as Elizabeth Woyke of Forbes claims (via SIA) that the iPhone 5 will have NFC built in after all.
Just met with an entrepreneur who says the iPhone 5 *will* have NFC...according to his friend, who works at Apple. Huh.With all the contradicting rumors, it's hard to tell which is true. Will the iPhone 5 contain a built-in NFC chip. We may have to wait for the iPhone 5 announcement, expected to be around June.
[HOW-TO] - Unlock iPhone 4 Basebands 2.10.04 / 3.10.01 with Gevey SIM
- Are you ready to unlock your iPhone 4 basebands?
- A new group of hacker called "Gevey Team" managed to unlock iPhone 4 running on iOS 4.1 and 4.2.1 basebands 2.10.04 and 3.10.01 using hardware tool.
- Initially when the 1st hardware tool unlock was released back during the iPhone 3G days, I used to try it but it gave me a BAD experience!
- The simcard always seems to be stuck in the simcard slot! I have to send for service centre to get it out. The additional thickness that caused it to get stucked.
- Thus - if you dare to try it, please beware...! You have been warned!

Possible iPhone 4 Cases to be Reuse in iPhone 5
- If this story is correct (Possible iPhone 5 cases could mean continued iPhone 4 design with larger screen), we will be able to continue use our favorite iPhone 4 cases.
- Sometimes, its quite frustrating to change cases every time we upgrade phones. What a waste!
- But this also shows that Apple is not keen to design a “bigger” iPhone and think the current iPhone 4 have the optimum size.
- Rumors also mentioned that the iPhone 5 will have a much bigger screen (4”) which will occupy the whole width of iPhone (end-to-end).
- Personally, I can’t imagine carrying a much bigger iPhone. The current iPhone 4 with the extra battery Mophie Juice pack Air already made my iPhone seems to be quite huge in size (people have been asking what device I am carrying - looks like an iPhone, feels like an iPhone but the size is not like an iPhone!)
Motorola Xoom WiFi Only Official Dates
The WiFi only Xoom has the same front and rear facing cameras, dual-core processor, and 10.1 inch screen as it's 3G counterpart. The Xoom is also one of the first tablets to run Honeycomb, which is the latest release of the popular mobile OS Android.
The WiFi version of the Xoom will be going for $599, with a rumored $50 off at Sam's Club. The Apple iPad, another 10 inch tablet, is closely competing with the Xoom, and only costs $499. Customers who want a tablet would probably go for the iPad, which has a lower price, many more applications, and a few more features, but the more technically savvy might go for the Xoom, because android gives users more control over a lot more.

Apple brings iAds to the iPad

The first iAds advertisement on the iPad is an advertisement for Dove Men+Care. The maker of Dive Men+Care, a company called Unilever, put out the ad, which contains a basketball jumbo-screen with videos and interactive NCAA-themed trivia questions.
iAds on the iPad is a good thing for both Apple and ad creators because it brings the interactive advertisement to a larger screen. This would be a great place for movie trailers, and other things that just look better on a larger screen.

Report: Zune Devices Killed by Microsoft; Brand Name Lives On (UPDATE: Zune Still Alive)

Although the Zune looks good on paper, and even in person, it never quite caught on. For some reason not many people liked the Zune, or maybe it just was more cool to own an iPod. In any case, the Zune has not been a success, and according to Bloomberg, Microsoft is finally giving up the Zune line of devices.
According to the Bloomberg report, which cited several sources familiar with the Zune line, says that Microsoft will be stopping development of their Zune devices, but will continue the Zune brand as their current media player software and online media store on the XBOX 360 and Windows Phone 7 devices.
The popular technology blog CNET contacted Microsoft and asked them to comment, but to no avail. On the other hand Bloomberg contacted them and got the following response:
"We have nothing to announce about another Zune device -- but most recently have introduced Zune HD to Canada via the Zune Originals store and remain committed to supporting our devices in North America.
"We are thrilled by the consumer excitement for Zune across many new platforms, including Windows Phone 7 and Xbox 360. Our long-term strategy focuses on the strength of the entire Zune ecosystem across Microsoft platforms."ZDNet's Mary Jo Foley also got Microsoft to comment:
"We're not 'killing' any of the Zune services/features in any way. Microsoft remains committed to providing a great music and video experience from Zune on platforms such as Xbox Live, Windows-based PCs, Zune devices and Windows Phone 7, as well as integration with Bing and MSN."If Bloomberg is correct about Microsoft stopping development of the Zune, Apple's iPod Touch get's one less competitor, and it makes them almost the only one in it's category. There are a few Android based portable media players, but none really closely match the iPod Touch. Although not many used the Zune devices, this still does seem like an advantage for Apple and it's iPod Touch.

Zentangle Challenge #13 - Non Dominant
This week's challenge over at Laura Harms Blog is to Tangle with your non dominant hand.
For me, that's my left hand - and I went with some normal tangles that my right hand is comfortable with drawing:
I like the wonky wiggly lines that drawing with your non dominant hand allows.
The filling in the black spaces, not so much…
I am trying to wrap my brain around what this week is going to spring upon me.
Tues - Thurs I am going to be full to the brim with Master Gardener Stuff.
I have to post about Cone 6 glazes by Thurs night on the Beads of Clay Blog…
So that means for the rest of today, I have to get my brain around glazing.
I sure hope everyone stays well this week - other than the regular allergy/sinus infection that seems to linger with all of us.
And my darn right ankle.
I had my chiropractor adjust it and the tendons are really messed up (injury from earlier in life - field hockey? softball? who knows…)
I have been having to keep a heating pad on it at night - but it seems to be almost back to normal.
Well, off to get lunch then into the studio.
I can't wait to get to test glazing again…
The hardest part is limiting myself and finding a starting place.
Very exciting stuff coming up with new ways to finish beads!

White iPhone 4 To Be Release in Spring
